Hip Opening Asanas

As a former ballet dancer, my hips are always tight when I wake up. I thought I’d share with you, some of my favorite hip opening asanas to help loosen up your hips. I personally prefer to start my day feeling like my body is properly aligned and hip openers are what make the biggest difference in my alignment. This is a simple, roll out of bed sequence. Hold for 3-5 breaths minimum and do both legs equally.

1- Down Dog w/ Split variations

2- Half Crescent Lunge
(Anjaneyasana)

3- Half Crescent Lunge w/Twist Variation

4- Pigeon Pose
(Kapotasana)

5- Pigeon Pose w/Backbend Variation

5- Mermaid Pose
(Eka Pada Rajakapotasana)

6- Garland Pose
(Malasana)
