Nearly every time I post something pertaining to weight loss or progress pics, I get questions on what I’m using, what’s my secret, which products have worked for me, basically all kinds of questions that are usually geared towards looking for a fad diet or some easy way to drop weight. Let me let you in on my secret... you ready?
THERE ISN’T ONE!
I have struggled with weight fluctuations my entire life, I have tried countless fad diets and “weight-loss” supplements & products, etc. You name it there’s a good chance I’ve tried it! Honestly I had really let myself get much heavier than I ever imagined, and it was to the point I hated myself when I saw my body in the mirror and especially in pictures.
Then, I read a quote online which stated:
“Sure you would die for your kids, but would you live (healthy) for them?”
It hit me hard and I’d say that was the final motivator for me to get serious about my health. Find whatever works for you to be motivated, my kids are my motivation for sure. I want to chase them without feeling like I’m dying, play soccer with them, run alongside the beach etc.
So I started doing something about it. It came down to this- taking accountability for my body and doing SOMETHING every single day. I started small with adjusting my portion sizes, which in time shrinks your stomach down to a normal size!!! Cleaning up your diet even a little bit can help your gut health. Less random snacking, changing my snacks to healthier snacks. Making significant cuts on my sugar intake, omitting extra sugar in my coffee, reduced the amount of calories I was drinking, etc. The big one though- WATER WATER WATER... did I mention WATER?
Shortly after I started my mission, I began incorporating yoga back into my daily life. I made a decision to start run/walking around the time my oldest daughter’s bus dropped her off. I started literally with 0.25 mile, slowly progressing up to 1 mile. I stuck with 1 mile a day (didn’t make it every single day due to weather etc) Each time I would push a little further, try to run a little longer, pushing myself however I could. The important thing for me was making sure I didn’t burn myself out because that’s sooooo easy for me to do. Eventually the mile got tolerable so I gradually increased my mileage.
I have lost a total of 41 lbs since I began this journey! I have not reached my goal weight yet but I won’t stop until I do. It has taken me over a year to get this far, slowly but surely I’m getting closer to my goal weight!

The image to the left is the one that really got to me and pushed me to start taking my health more seriously! The right image is today.
